While in town, consider visiting the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Located just one block from Freestone's City Grill, the Whaling Museum features a spectacular collection of scrimshaw, American Art and a life size whaling ship that all can tour. The Zeiterion Theater features live performances of jazz, ballet and touring Broadway musicals. The Rotch Jones Duff House and Garden Museum is a restored Whaling Captain's home within walking distance of the historic district as is the New Bedford Art Museum. Sit in the Seaman's Bethel, where Herman Melville rested when spending time in New Bedford. Take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard or the Alert II to Cuttyhunk. A full marina is operated by the City as well as several major boatyards to help you if your traveling by water.
