While in town, consider visiting the New Bedford Whaling Museum. Located
just one block from Freestone's City Grill, the Whaling Museum features a
spectacular collection of scrimshaw, American Art and a life size whaling
ship that all can tour. The Zeiterion Theater features live performances of jazz, ballet and touring Broadway musicals. The
Rotch Jones Duff House and Garden Museum is a restored Whaling Captain's
home within walking distance of the historic district as is the New Bedford
Art Museum. Sit in the Seaman's Bethel, where Herman Melville rested when
spending time in New Bedford. Take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard or the
Alert II to Cuttyhunk. A full marina is operated by the City as well as
several major boatyards to help you if your traveling by water.
There are several Bed and Breakfasts as well as four motels to ease your
journey. Come join us in Southeastern New England, a hidden jewel along
the Massachusetts Coast.
